The 5G V2X OBU is more than a communication terminal — it is the vehicle’s "collaborative perception brain." By collecting vehicle data via in-vehicle CAN/CAN FD and Ethernet, and combining 5G, C-V2X PC5, WiFi, Bluetooth and other wireless means, it interacts in real time with RSUs and other vehicle OBUs, supporting green-wave passage, blind-spot warnings, vulnerable road user alerts and other advanced V2X coordination applications.
The OBU simultaneously supports 5G Uu cellular links and C-V2X PC5 direct links. Uu handles high-bandwidth data backhaul and remote operations, while PC5 handles millisecond-level low-latency coordination among vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-pedestrian, together forming the integrated vehicle-road-cloud communication foundation.
The vehicle accesses the cellular network via a 5G base station, supporting OTA upgrades, high-precision map downloads, HD video backhaul and remote driving, and providing a high-bandwidth backhaul channel for cloud-platform big-data analytics.
Vehicles, RSUs and pedestrians connect via C-V2X PC5 direct links to broadcast traffic-signal status, road hazard warnings and vulnerable road user protection, achieving millisecond-level low-latency coordination without relying on base stations.
